Top 10 Christmas Beauty Tips
1. Work your make-up. Turn eye shadow into eyeliner by wetting the tip of an eyeliner brush and dipping it in dark eye shadow. Red-gold or peachy eye shadows can also work well as blushers and lip colours (with gloss on top)
2. Less is more - heavy foundation only accentuates wrinkles. Instead stick to using illuminators and tinted moisturisers only in places that need it - under eyes, around nose and work from the centre outwards.
3. Set eyelash curls by quickly heating the eyelash curler with a blowdryer first. If you've already put on mascara, let it dry and then go ahead with the curling - some say the curl holds better this way round.
4. Applying foundation under eye shadow makes it last longer. Put loose powder under eyes before applying, especially if your eye shadow contains glitter. Wiping powder away takes any spills with it.
5. Crushed glitter liquid liner used over black eyeliner is very striking. Use cream eye shadow under glitter instead of a powder.
6. Don't forget to neaten and define your brows, they shouldn't be left out as they frame your eye make-up. Slick in place with Vaseline or hairspray (sprayed on your fingers first).
7. Keep skin tones consistent. Use a bronzer brush to avoid a glowing face on top of pale cleavage and arms.
8. Avoid an overloaded crunchy effect when using hairspray by misting over a comb then working through your hair.
9. Give tired post-party eyes a treat by keeping some soothing eye cream on stand-by in the fridge.
10. Use classic skin softeners such as baby oil and Vaseline. E45 cream is one of the best all-purpose moisturisers around.
Christmas Makeup
As for the lips – they should be red – in bright crimson or wine hues. Electric shades also work well – orange reds and bold raspberry fuchsias will really make you the belle of the ball if you combine them with a clean face and feline lined eyes. This sophisticated Christmas makeup requires also a bit of black or gunmetal grey liquid eyeliner. To complete the look, apply some face highlighter on cheekbones, brow bones, down the centre of the nose, temples and shoulder blades.
If you find the above Christmas makeup a little over the top and a bit too dramatic, and want to go for a little bit shinier look, try eye shadows and face highlighters with fine brocade and shiny particles that flatter the face. Applying it with measure without going kitsch, it will help you achieve a warm, subtle burnished gilt look, the traditional Christmas makeup that never goes out of style.
Whatever the style you choose for your Christmas makeup, you can be sure that your sophisticated winter shine will light up every room you enter in.
Christmas Coming!
Christmas is a family holiday, a time to warm up your soul, so better leave the shiny glittery look for New Year’s Eve. You don’t want to look gaudy and ostentatious, do you? So aim for something grown-up and classy – the 1940’s and 1950’s Hollywood style is the right way to go when choosing your Christmas makeup. Have you seen how do Lauren Bacall, Vivien Leigh and Katherine Hepburn look in their early movies? See how it’s done:
The cornerstone of your Party Makeup this Christmas should be false eyelashes. They have become extremely popular amongst the worldwide party community this year and promise to be around for quite a while.

Water and your Hair
A healthy head of hair usually means moist and vibrant tresses. But, washing with contaminated water (and repeating) can literally wash away those locks.
There are several water contaminants that can cause hair loss. One is selenium, which is an element found in other ores. Most commonly, this element gets into the water system from run-off from petroleum refineries and from mine discharge. However, this element is also found in compounds that make photocopier equipment. According the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the best way to remove this element is by a reverse osmosis water filter.
Another metal that can cause hair loss is mercury. This element, also found in fish, can also be eliminated from water by a RO filter. Experts know that hair loss can be attributed to hair loss, but they aren't exactly sure why. If hair loss is being experience and one is a sushi addict, it may be best to steer clear of seafood. However, if hair loss is occurring in someone who does not consume fish regularly, it may be time to get the water checked for mercury. Mercury poisoning can also be detected by nausea, a metallic taste in the mouth, difficulty concentrating, weak spells, dizzy spells, tingling sensations in the hands and feet, unexplained headaches and fatigue. All of these can point to too much mercury coming from the tap.
Lead poisoning, among many other things, can also cause hair loss. Water traveling from old lead pipes to the shower head may be a prescription for hair loss. Zinc is also a contributor. So is aluminum. There are also literally ways to poison your hair: traces of arsenic and thallium in water can also cause hair to fall out. It should be noted that while losing hair is often a difficult experience, many of these contaminants can also cause damaging health effects.
So, to keep your head of hair thick and healthy, be sure to be washing it with the purest water possible. And in the meantime, you could also be protecting yourself from serious disease!
According to recent news and reports, most tap and well water in the U.S. are not safe for drinking due to heavy industrial and environmental pollution. Toxic bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals routinely penetrate and pollute our natural water sources making people sick while exposing them to long term health consequences such as liver damage, cancer and other serious conditions. We have reached the point where all sources of our drinking water, including municipal water systems, wells, lakes, rivers, and even glaciers, contain some level of contamination. Even some brands of bottled water have been found to contain high levels of contaminants in addition to plastics chemical leaching from the bottle.
A good water filtration system installed in your home is the only way to proactively monitor and ensure the quality and safety of your drinking water. Reverse osmosis water purification systems can remove 90-99% of all contaminants from city and well water to deliver healthy drinking water for you and your family.

Flax Facts
It has been shown that eating flax seeds may help in lowering the risk of hormone-dependant breast cancers. Flax seeds contains a large amount of a type of phytoestrogens known as lignans, and these compounds have been found to possibly assist the body by helping to prevent hormones from building to breast tissue. flax seeds are also high in dietary fiber and omga-3 fatty acids.
Dry Lips?
As we move into winter, we become more prone to dehydrated, chapped lips. While you may be armed with the richest lip salve, dry peeling lips are not simply a matter of applying lip care, but addressing the stomach, small intestine and spleen. Your lips correspond to your health through their appearance. This concept is similar to reflexology and acupincture: Thier dryness may indicate dryness in the digestive tract, constipation, or a weak spleen.
Try eating only moist, easy to digest foods, taking oils/essential fatty acids and increasing water intake. Replenishing the organs that relate to your lips doesn't just lubricate them but also makes them truly healthy, plump and kissable.

The Color Black
Black is the most misunderstood color. A black tie dinner is very formal and elegant. Women can wear that "must have little black dress" to the black tie dinner. Yet the bad guys wear black hats. Black symbolizes death in some cultures. Native Americans thought black was good because it was the color of soil, which gives life. Saturday's color is black.
Black Energy
Black is not a color, strictly speaking. It is the absence of all color. When people speak of opposites, it is usually in terms of black and white. Black, and its opposite white, represent polarities. Black absorbs all aspects of light. While white reveals, black conceals. It has come to mean hidden, fearful or bad experience. It is linked to the unknown or the unseen.
In times of fear and uncertainty black contains the energy of the threatening unknown. In a positive state, black is seen as a restful emptiness into which anything may emerge and disappear once again. It is also mysterious, providing a sense of potential and possibility.
Put some black in your life when you want:
- to become inconspicuous
- to open the door to mystery
- to prepare for the unknown
- a restful emptiness
The Color White
White is the color of purity. Brides wear white in many countries, because white symbolizes a virgin. White means kindness. In some cultures white is worn at funerals. White is Monday's color. White daisies are a symbol of loyal love.
White Energy
Strictly speaking, white is not a color, but the manifestation of the presence of all color - the complete energy of light. It stands for wholeness and completion. In many cultures it represents openness and truth. White has a cold quality. It can provide clarity as its energy is complete.
White has purification vibrations and can be used to clear blocks from your path.
It holds the potential to move toward every other color and this makes it a good choice for new beginnings, and development in any direction.
Put some white in your life when you want:
- to clear clutter and obstacles away
- to start a fresh beginning
- to bring about mental clarity
- purification of thoughts or actions

The Color Indigo
Indigo is the color of the deep midnight sky. It can have a negative effect when used during a depressed state, because it will deepen the mood. Indigo symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward, to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings. While blue can be fast, Indigo is almost instantaneous. Inventors use indigo skills for inspirations that seem to 'come out of the blue'.
Put some indigo in your life when you want:
- to focus on personal issues
- to develop intuition
- to step outside of everyday life for a new and interesting way of viewing a problem
- solitude and inner communication

The Color Purple
Purple is the color of good judgment. It is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation.
Purple has been used to symbolize magic and mystery, as well as royalty. Being the combination of red and blue, the warmest and coolest colors, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Most children love the color purple. Purple is the color most favoured by artists. Thursday's color is purple.
Violet is the color of purpose. Violet is associated with the Crown chakra (This links individual and universal).
Violet Energy
Violet is a combination of blue and red. Red is a focusing, dynamic and active energy while blue is cooling, calming and expansive. Violet brings a new dynamic to the expansion of blue and the activity of red. Red brings practicality to the undirected expansiveness of the blue, and allows more creative energy to emerge. For this reason, violet is associated with imagination and inspiration.
Violet is an important energy for those who use blue and indigo skills in the psychic field. The red in violet offers a grounding effect.
Put some violet in your life when you want:

As Uou Age Keep It Simple for a Timeless Look!
Remember, before you are tempted to put on a load of makeup you should step back and take a good look at yourself. Keeping your makeup simple is a great way to age gracefully, without damaging your skin or pores more than necessary. For a flawless look you can simply use a brush to swipe on loose powder, add a cream blush to your cheeks, dab concealer under your eyes, apply a few coats of mascara and be out the door!
Elongate a Square with the right Hair
The square face can be elongated somewhat by added height on the top of the head. Layers on the crown and parting your hair off center help to reduce a square look. Wispy bangs and temples soften the squareness too, and may add roundness. Wavy hair adds to the softening effect; straight lines, straight bangs and straight or flat hair are to be avoided. Short or medium hair looks nice. Don't let any haircut end at your jawline.
Hair Lengths for Triangular Faces
If your chin or jaw is wider and your forehead narrower, add weight to the top of your head with layers that create fullness, thinning as it approaches the jaw. The shag was made for the triangular face! Short hair looks nice on a triangular face. Long hair doesn't work as well, but if you're attached to your hair and can't bear cutting it, try styles that pull your hair back as it falls below your cheekbones.
Flattering Hairstyles for Heart Shaped Faces
You can have a lot of fun with new hair styles. The key here is to get a style with more fullness lower on the face, around the chin, and less fullness at the forehead. Sweep your hair back to show off your fabulous cheekbones. Short hair doesn't work as well on a heart shaped face, because it puts the emphasis at the top of your head. Keep your hair at least chin length, and light and wispy around the forehead.
Rectangular Face Hair Styles
A long, narrow face can be rounded a bit by hair that's kept short to medium in length, with wispy bangs. Fuller sides from the forehead to the middle of the cheekbones widen the face, and layers add fullness and volume to the hair. Long hair and center parts accentuate rectangular face shapes, making them appear longer.
Hair Cuts for Round Faces
There are two ways to address hairstyles for a round face. One way is to accentuate the roundness even further, with a bowl-shaped haircut, which can be very beautiful on the right woman. There's something widely appealing about transforming an unusual characteristic into a real feature, and playing up a round face is one way to be very much your own person, stylistically speaking. But if you don't want your face to look as round, choose a hair style that lengthens the look of your face. Have the top layered for fullness and height, and thinned out below the cheekbones to give the illusion of a narrower chin line. Go with medium to long hair. If you don't mind the extra time, running your hair through a straightening iron can be an extra sleek & sophisticated look.
If you Have an Oval Face Shape
If you look at most models and actresses, you'll notice that their faces tend to be oval. Oval faces look good in pretty much any hairstyle, especially styles that show off that perfect shape. Don't get bangs, and don't wear your hair in your face. For everyone else, hairstyles may be used to create the impression of having a "perfect" oval face. But you can also use your hairstyle to play up your best features regardless of your face shape.

Protecting Hair From Blow Dryer and Flat Iron Damage
If you use flat irons or blow dryers on a daily basic, protecting your hair might be a real concern. Protecting hair from heat damage is one of the biggest concerns stylists hear from their clients in the salon. Whether your hair is curly, thick, thin, long or short, it can be damaged easily by a flat iron or blow dryer. You may be well aware of the damage hair color or chlorine can do to your hair. But, heat damage is much more commonly seen by stylists.
Damaged hair can prevent your hair from looking healthy. Heat damage can cause split ends, frizzy hair or hair breakage. You may think you need to buy expensive hair products from designer lines like Paul Mitchell or Sephora but you can get great protection from many generic hair products as well.
Use these tips to prevent hair heat damage from occurring and learn how to use a flat iron or blow dryer without damaging your hair’s style and shine!
Prepare Your Hair
One of the easiest ways to protect your hair when using a flat iron or blow dryer is to prepare your hair for the heat it will endure. Instead of just using a comb or brush to prepare your hair for drying or straightening, take more action. After you wash and condition your hair, consider using one of the many new beauty products which focus on heat protection. These products can be found for the hair in various types such as sprays, serums, lotions and gels. The best products are lightweight, heat-activated and include hair-healthy ingredients. Some of the most popular heat protection products include Redken’s Smooth Down Heat Glide, FHI Heat Hot Sauce and CHI Silk Infusion.

Blow Dry On Low: Use Only The Heat You Need
Have you ever noticed how a professional stylist rarely blow dries your hair on anything but low heat and speed? This is not so they can avoid getting to their next client but is because blow drying can cause a flash drying effect on your hair. When done at excessive temperatures, it can remove surface moisture and hair hydration. This can lead to your hair becoming brittle, dry and frizzy. It’s best to avoid blow drying your hair on a daily basis. But, if you can’t break the habit be sure to take the extra time to blow dry your hair at a lower temperature. With most hair dryers made equipped with several heat levels and speeds, this should not be a problem. Along the same line, be sure to only use as much heat as you need not only when blow drying your hair but also when flat ironing your hair. Thin hair may not require as much heat for effective flat ironing as thick hair.

Only Flat Iron Clean And Dry Hair
Experts say those who flat iron hair with buildup of previously used hair products in it is putting themselves at risk for hair heat damage. Even the slightest dampness in hair can literally cause the hair to “cook” if you try to flat iron it, which will swell the hair shaft and cause the protective hair moisture to be removed.
